Property description

The Escape is situated on a quiet bay with a view to crown land. The
property is very private, no cottages are visible from the cottage,
decks or dock. The 225 foot lake frontage is characteristically Canadian
Shield country with rocks and bush. The cottage sits high on the
dramatic landscape offering great views in all directions. The dock is
spacious with lovely views of “Group of Seven” country. A winding path
through a primitive garden leads to a stone terrace on the high point of
the property perfect for evening cocktails. There are many lovely areas
to sit outside.

The property is as beautiful in winter as it is in summer. The autumn is
breathtaking. In the winter the colours are predominantly bright white,
green and blue – it is always more cheerful than the city.
Cottage description
The Escape is a fully winterized, modern building clad inside and out
in a cottage ambience. With a goal to bring the out of doors inside,
there are more windows than walls. The cottage is very bright and
spacious with large rooms and with beautiful views out every window. The
furniture and décor are country elegant and comfortable. There is a
separate library/TV room (which doubles as a guest room). There is a
wraparound deck and every room has its own exit to the out of doors. The
cottage is heated by a woodstove set in a floor to ceiling flagstone
hearth and electric heat.
Activities
One can sit and spend a certain amount of time just admiring the views:
at dawn or dusk when there is a perfect reflection of the sky and land
in the water; shangri-la mists rising from the lake at dawn; the water
is sparkling so brilliantly you can hardly look at it during the day;
during sunset when the treetops and rocks on the opposite shore seem lit
with an inner light of pink and purple; watching for the beaver (8.30
p.m. sharp), the deer, the great blue heron, the woodpeckers and
of course the loons.
Swimmers will believe they have gone to heaven swimming through a sheet
of perfectly flat black velvet. Six Mile Lake is spring-fed and the
water is very clean. Excellent fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking. The
cottage is a 10 minute walk from the beaches of Six Mile Lake provincial
park.
In the winter, sit in front of the woodstove, admire the views and read.
Feeling energetic, cross-country ski out the door through a winter
wonderland landscape. Downhill ski at Mount St. Louis/Moonstone (35
minutes) and Horseshoe Valley (45 minutes). Snowmobilers can access
miles of trails from the cottage door. Upon your return soak in a hot
bath with a beautiful view!
